There is not restriction from both the airlines and customs when flying with injured pets as long as they are stable and don't have any communicable diseases.

The flights to Mexico are short between 2-4 hours. The vet voyage courier rep will be aware of the condition of the pet and will be very careful handling the kennel with extra care. So flying will be as if you pet takes a car ride 2-4 hours long.

How do I know my pet is safe during the flight?

We only fly with small dogs or cats that weigh less than 24 lbs and can fit comfortably in a 18"x 11" 11" kennel bag. This is because we only fly with pets on board in the cabin with us and they must follow the airline guidelines. The kennel is placed under the seat in front of the Vet Voyage pet courier representative so they are always in company and taken care of.

Flying with your pet in cabin reduces the risks associating with flying with pets almost to zero. You don't have to worry about air pressure, unstable temperatures drops or bad handling as your pet will be technically one more passenger in the flight.

How long will my pet need to stay in Mexico after the procedure?

We do not have an exact time frame on how long your pet needs to stay recovering in Mexico as every case is different and depends on the procedure and the recovery progress made. However, in general pets need to stay in Mexico for the recovery from 10-15 days after surgery and will depend on the vet to decide if the pet capable to take a flight back home.

If we don't comply with the recovery time, taking a flight after a major surgery can lead to infection, deep vein thrombosis or blood clots.

We know it's a long time without seeing your pet but we take extra precaution and prefer to be cautious with a pet that just underwent a major surgical procedure.
